If you have missing teeth, you may be a candidate for dental implants.

Dental Implants Are Safe

Dental implants are a popular, safe and very effective way to replace missing teeth. Most patients find that dental implants provide an attractive, reliable and long-term solution.  The procedure has enjoyed tremendous advances and improvements over the past 50 years or so.  In other words, dental implants are a well-established and proven procedure.

Example of Dental Implant

Dental implants are stable and reliable. They are anchored into the upper or lower jaw where they bind with the bone in a process called osseointegration. Anchors will hold the replacement teeth solidly in place. Depending on the extent of tooth loss and other factors, replacement teeth will consist of a crown, bridge or dentures. Replacement teeth are custom-built to blend naturally with your existing teeth and to restore your smile.

Are You A Candidate For Dental Implants?

Not everyone is a good candidate for this procedure. Your overall health is a more important factor than age. The ideal dental implant candidate has good general health and good oral health. It is also necessary to have a sufficient amount of jaw bone support the implant.

That does not mean a candidate for dental implants must be in perfect health.  Some medical conditions are more important than others in determining whether dental implants are reasonable procedure for you. It is important to discuss your medical history and your current medical issues with your dentist.

Ask Your Dentist About Dental Implants

Dental implants are a terrific option for many people. However, no dental procedure is perfect for everyone. If you have missing teeth, ask your dentist whether or not you are a good candidate for this procedure.
